1. Check whether you need a visitor visa or another document
UAE residence is not the same as Canadian visa exemption. Start with the IRCC travel-document checker, using your passport and actual journey details. A tourist visit, a family visit and a plan to work or study should not be treated as interchangeable applications.
This article covers a visitor visa, also called a Temporary Resident Visa. For an overview of the starting decisions, use Canada visa from UAE. If you need personalised advice about a complex immigration history, use an appropriately authorised professional.
2. Prepare documents for your actual visit
The IRCC application page gives instructions by purpose. Use it and your online checklist to identify what must be uploaded. A generic travel-agency list is a preparation aid, not the final authority.
| Evidence to organise | Practical preparation check |
|---|---|
| Identity and UAE status | Keep the passport and residence information consistent with the personal details entered online. |
| Purpose and itinerary | Describe why you are travelling, where you intend to stay and how the visit fits the dates. |
| Funding | Make clear who pays, how the trip is affordable and which records support that explanation. |
| Employment or business | Organise records relevant to your work, income and continuing commitments. |
| Host or family arrangements | Check that the host details, relationship, address and any support agree with your application. |
| Previous travel and decisions | Have the information needed to answer travel-history and previous-application questions accurately. |
For example, if your proposed dates cover three weeks but your work letter refers to two, resolve the discrepancy before uploading. If a relative offers accommodation, the financial explanation should reflect that arrangement. These are consistency checks, not promises of approval.
How much money should you show?
IRCC’s visitor eligibility guidance relates sufficient funds to the length of the stay and whether you use hotels or stay with someone. It also requires you to satisfy the officer that you will leave Canada after the visit. There is no universal AED amount established by this guide.
Prepare a realistic trip budget covering transport, accommodation and daily spending. Explain who will pay each part. A clear budget helps you check whether the plan and financial records agree; it does not replace the evidence requested by IRCC. Keep any account explanations factual and supported.
3. Complete the official online application
Follow the account route linked by IRCC for your situation. The IRCC Portal instructions describe account creation, answering the online questions, receiving a document list, uploading files and paying. Follow the current steps rather than relying on an old screenshot of a portal.
- Use the correct passport details and keep account access secure.
- Read every question before answering, including previous travel and application history.
- Upload readable files in the categories and formats requested.
- Check names, dates and supporting information before submitting.
- Save the submission confirmation and payment records, then monitor your account.
Avoid sharing passwords through a general enquiry. If anyone will act as your representative, understand the authorisation and disclosure requirements before handing over account access.
4. Pay the applicable Canada visa fees
The figures below were checked against the IRCC fee list and biometrics guidance on 27 October 2026. They are in Canadian dollars, not UAE dirhams.
| Charge | Individual amount | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Visitor visa application | CAD 100 | Standard per-person fee |
| Biometrics | CAD 85 | When biometrics and payment are required |
| Example combined government fees | CAD 185 | One applicant paying both standard charges |
Family limits and exemptions have conditions; check them before calculating a group total. Translation, courier, optional centre services and any private assistance charges are separate. An AED card charge depends on the conversion and charges applied by your payment provider.
5. Follow your biometrics instruction letter
If IRCC requires biometrics, follow the Biometric Instruction Letter for the current application. Take that letter and your valid passport to the appointment. IRCC says booking the appointment itself is free; this is different from the biometrics fee.
The Canada VFS UAE site explains the local sequence: submit to IRCC, receive the letter, book a collection appointment and attend. Check current Dubai or Abu Dhabi centre details and the documents requested before travelling. The application decision remains with IRCC.
6. Track requests, the decision and passport submission
Check your account for new instructions. IRCC may request additional information, an interview, a medical exam or a police certificate depending on the case. If an online application is approved, IRCC sends passport-submission instructions. A request letter alone is not a visa in your passport. See IRCC’s after-application guidance.
For timing, use the processing link on the official visitor visa overview. Estimates vary by country and circumstances, and the time needed to give biometrics is not included in that overview’s processing estimate. Do not turn an estimate into a guaranteed departure date.
Where can you get help with a Canada application?
You can apply directly using IRCC’s instructions. If you want assistance, review DreamSphere’s Canada visitor visa service and request a clear scope and fee breakdown. Ask who provides any paid immigration advice or representation and verify their status using IRCC’s authorised-representative guidance.
Contact DreamSphere with your nationality, UAE residence status, trip purpose and intended dates. These details are enough to begin a general enquiry; provide sensitive documents only through the agreed process when needed.
