Should you use an India eVisa or regular visa?
Use the eVisa route only when the passport nationality, travel purpose and entry point meet the official eligibility rules. The Government of India currently provides electronic categories for tourism, business, medical treatment and several other purposes. Travellers who are not eligible, hold certain official travel documents, have specified security backgrounds, or need activities outside eVisa permissions should check the regular visa route.

Which India eVisa category fits the trip?
Choose the category that describes the real main purpose of travel. A tourist eVisa is not a substitute for employment or an activity that needs another permission. Business and medical applications require additional purpose-specific evidence. If the trip combines activities, check the official conditions before selecting a category because an incorrect route can create problems at application or arrival.

What files should you prepare for an India eVisa?
The official portal requires a clear passport bio-page scan and a square digital photograph that meets its format and size rules. Business, medical and other categories require additional PDF evidence. Names, passport details, travel information and purpose should be consistent across the form and uploads. Blurred scans, incorrect dimensions, incomplete purpose evidence and applying with the wrong passport are avoidable risks.

How does the official India eVisa process work?
The government process has four core stages: complete the online application, upload the required passport page and photograph, pay the country-specific fee, and receive the Electronic Travel Authorization by email. Before travel, confirm that the status shows granted, print or retain the ETA, and carry the passport used for the application. Biometric details are captured by immigration on arrival.

Is India eVisa eligibility based on UAE residence?
No. Eligibility is primarily based on the passport nationality and the intended activity. UAE residence does not automatically make a passport eligible. Check the live nationality list on the official Government of India eVisa portal.
Does India offer an emergency or express eVisa fee?
The Government of India states that it does not provide an emergency or express fee for granting an eVisa. Treat any promise of guaranteed express approval as a warning sign.
When should an India eVisa fee be paid?
The official portal currently says the applicable country-specific fee must be paid at least four days before the expected travel date or the application will not be processed. Applying only four days ahead is still risky, so prepare earlier.
Can an eVisa be used through every border point?
No. Entry and exit are limited to authorised immigration checkpoints listed on the official portal. Confirm the intended airport, seaport or land route before applying and booking travel.
