Do you need K-ETA or a South Korea visa?
K-ETA is only for eligible visa-exempt travellers; it is not a visa for every UAE resident. Applicants whose passport is not eligible, whose K-ETA is refused, or whose activity requires a visa must use the appropriate consular route. Check the passport, purpose and current exemption status before preparing documents or paying for travel.
Where should UAE residents apply?
The Korean Consulate General in Dubai generally handles eligible residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates, while residents of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain generally use the Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The Dubai consulate currently states that non-UAE nationals normally need at least six months remaining on their UAE residence, and some listed nationalities face an additional continuous-residence condition.
| Applicant | Likely route | Check carefully |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible visa-exempt passport | K-ETA or a current exemption | Live K-ETA eligibility and travel purpose |
| Dubai / Northern Emirates resident | Dubai consulate if eligible | Residence validity and nationality conditions |
| Abu Dhabi / Al Ain resident | Korean Embassy in Abu Dhabi | Mission-specific process and appointment |
What should a tourist visa file explain?
The file should establish identity and lawful UAE residence, the real trip purpose, practical itinerary, accommodation, funding and reasons to return. The exact checklist depends on nationality and visa type. Forms, employment evidence, bank activity, bookings and invitation details should tell the same story without invented reservations or unexplained contradictions.
Identity and residence
Passport, UAE residence evidence, photographs and any mission-specific nationality documents.
Purpose and itinerary
Travel dates, accommodation and a realistic plan suited to the requested stay.
Funding
Income, bank evidence, trip costs and genuine sponsorship documents when relevant.
Return circumstances
Employment, business, study, family or other ongoing ties in the UAE or country of residence.
Which official Korea sources should you use?

How does DreamSphere help?
We check the likely route and UAE mission, build a case-specific checklist, review form and evidence consistency, and prepare applicants for the official appointment or online step. We do not create K-ETA eligibility, secure privileged appointment access, submit false evidence or influence the Korean authority's decision.
What do applicants ask about Korea entry?
These answers cover the distinctions most likely to cause avoidable errors: K-ETA versus a visa, UAE mission jurisdiction, appointments, timing and DreamSphere's service boundary.
Does every UAE resident need a South Korea visa?
No. The route follows passport nationality, trip purpose and current Korean rules. Some eligible visa-exempt travellers may use K-ETA, while others need a visa before travel. UAE residence also determines which Korean mission can accept a visa application.
Is K-ETA the same as a Korean visa?
No. K-ETA is an electronic travel authorisation for eligible visa-exempt travellers. It does not turn a visa-required passport into a visa-exempt one, and a K-ETA approval does not guarantee admission at the border.
Can all UAE residents apply through the Korean Consulate in Dubai?
No. The Dubai consulate generally serves UAE nationals and eligible residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain residents generally apply through the Korean Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Additional residence-history conditions can apply to specified nationalities.
Does DreamSphere guarantee approval or an appointment?
No. Korean authorities control appointments, document requests, K-ETA decisions, visa issuance and entry. DreamSphere provides private route checks, document review and application-readiness guidance.
When should I prepare my Korea application?
Start once your purpose, dates and UAE residence jurisdiction are clear. Appointment supply and assessment time can change, so check the relevant mission before making non-refundable arrangements.
