What does “Europe Golden Visa” mean?
It is a market term for separate national residence-by-investment programmes, not a visa issued by the European Union. A permit normally grants residence in the issuing country and limited short travel elsewhere under Schengen rules. It does not create an automatic right to settle or work across every EU country.

Which programme claims need extra caution?
Availability changes. Spain abolished its investor residence visas in April 2025. Portugal’s investment residence framework has also changed and old property-led marketing should not be treated as current eligibility. Greece continues to publish an investor residence route, but the qualifying transaction, location, property use and documentation require current professional review.
| Country | Current page position | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Spain | Closed to new investor visas | Consider a different lawful residence category |
| Portugal | Changed programme; no generic property claim | Verify a current statutory investment route |
| Greece | Official investor route published | Legal review of investment and property conditions |
What should happen before money is committed?
Programme verification comes first. Then confirm source-of-funds evidence, ownership structure, family eligibility, sanctions and due-diligence checks, tax consequences, transaction costs, property restrictions, physical-presence conditions and exit risk. A reservation payment or purchase should never be the first eligibility test.
Official sources for investor residence
Government sources establish whether a programme exists. Transaction advice should then come from licensed professionals in the destination.
Spanish Government confirmation that investor residence visas ended on 3 April 2025.

Golden Visa questions from UAE residents
These answers correct the most consequential assumptions before a route or investment is discussed.
Is there one European Golden Visa?
No. Investor residence is created and controlled by individual countries. Investment type, amount, family rules, physical presence and renewal conditions differ.
Does Spain still accept new Golden Visa applications?
Spain ended investor residence visas on 3 April 2025. DreamSphere does not market Spain as an open Golden Visa route.
Is buying property enough for residence?
Only where a current national programme expressly allows the specific property and transaction. Ownership alone does not create residence rights, and due diligence must precede any purchase.
Does investor residence guarantee citizenship?
No. Residence, permanent residence and citizenship are separate legal stages. Citizenship normally has its own physical-presence, language, integration and other conditions.
What advice does DreamSphere provide?
We offer preliminary route and document support. Licensed immigration, legal, tax and investment professionals must advise on regulated matters and transactions.
