Which Indonesia entry route applies?
Indonesia offers several entry routes, and UAE residence alone does not select one. Passport nationality, intended activity, entry point and stay determine whether visa-free entry, visa on arrival, electronic VOA or a pre-arranged visitor eVisa is appropriate. Work, study and other activities need their own categories rather than a tourist shortcut.
Visa-free route
Available only to listed nationalities and permitted short-visit purposes.
VOA or e-VOA
For current eligible passports, either arranged online or at a designated arrival point.
Visitor eVisa
A pre-travel route for travellers or purposes not handled by visa-free or VOA access.
What is required for an e-VOA?
Official Indonesian guidance requires eligible applicants to use the government eVisa portal, complete the online form, upload the passport biodata page and a recent colour photograph, provide return or onward travel evidence where required, and pay digitally. Passport details must match exactly because processed e-VOA information cannot simply be edited.
What should applicants avoid?
Do not assume that entering Bali creates a separate or easier visa, select a tourist route for work or study, use an unofficial lookalike website, or submit inconsistent passport details. Confirm whether the chosen visa permits the actual activity and whether the arrival airport or seaport is authorised for that route.

Does every UAE resident use the same Indonesia visa route?
No. The route follows passport nationality and purpose. A traveller may qualify for visa-free entry, visa on arrival or electronic VOA, while another passport or activity may require a visitor eVisa before travel.
Is a Bali visa different from an Indonesia visa?
No. Bali follows Indonesian immigration rules. “Bali visa” is common search language, but the traveller receives Indonesian entry permission for the applicable purpose and stay.
Can everyone obtain an e-VOA?
No. Electronic and on-arrival facilities are limited to current eligible nationalities and entry conditions. Other travellers should select the appropriate pre-arranged eVisa category.
Does an Indonesian eVisa guarantee entry?
No. Issuance permits travel for the stated route, but the immigration officer retains authority over admission. Passport, visa information and travel purpose must match.
