Why is there no fixed AED equivalent here?

Home Affairs charges are denominated in Australian dollars. The AED amount charged to your card can depend on the payment provider’s conversion and fees. A rounded conversion published today may not match the amount on a future card statement.

Ask your card provider about foreign-currency charges if this affects your budget. Compare the government amount, any payment surcharge and the bank’s conversion separately. This gives you a clearer explanation than assuming every difference is an agency markup.

Separate the costs before comparing quotes

Request a written breakdown of government charges, private administrative assistance and any other applicable expenses. Translations, health checks or biometrics-related costs may be separate where relevant. Do not assume every applicant incurs every possible expense.

For example, two travellers might share accommodation while still having separate application expenses. A child’s documents or translation needs may also differ from an adult’s. Use the official charge applicable to each application rather than multiplying an undated package figure blindly.
